Well i spent many a happy day in blackpool during the easter holidays, mainly eyeing up the really fit guy who works on central pier. His name is john, about 5"6/7 and he works outside on the can can stall or on the stupid dart thing. I thought i'd died and gone 2 heaven when he finally kissed me one day only 2 tell me 2 get lost the next day. He totally devestated me. Gorgious place! I will never forget these 3 months I have spent in Blackpool as it's been the best holiday in my life! Lots of sun, glorious beach, fabulous Promenade, fantastic pubs and worth gate-crashing clubs, but above all - wonderful, warm, friendly people! I am missing it all so much! Feeling like going back and having some fun in Waterfront, drinking delicius coffee in Four Ferns Cafe, shopping in Ms Selfridge, and going to Fun Palace. I have left there my heart! I used to go to Roseacre in late 70's to early 80's. Teachers were (Infants) Mrs Butterfield, Mrs Edge, and Mrs Dury, and (Juniors) Miss Spencer, Mrs Gregory, Mrs Halliwell and Miss Watkinson. Went onto Highfield after that, but only stayed a few years before moving away. Often look at old photographs of Roseacre school trips, school plays etc, and remember old friends, namely Kerry Hall, Sarah Bateson, Lucy Ward, Katharine Taylor, Julie Overs, Vicky Bielby, and many many others, and wonder what they are up to nowadays. I now live and work in the Liverpool area, but often think about my early days in Blackpool. Having been recently widowed, and feeling very down in the dumps, this site was a lovely trip back down memory lane.

I moved to Ravenswood Ave in 1954 at the age of 1 year. I went to Roseacre and then Arnold from '64 until '70 when the family moved to Southport. We also lived in St Martin's Rd (125)for the last five or so years we were in Blackpool. I bring my 83 year old mother over every so often for a nostalgic tour of South Shore generally and St Mary's Church specifically, where she ran the Brownie pack and the Guide Company and where my late father was a churchwarden. The smell of the church hall still transports me back to the age of 12 - scouts and the youth club. Amazing to come across your site and see so many ex-pats keeping an interest. Does anyone know if Arnold Old Boys have a web site?

Lived in Blackpool during WW2. On Withnell Road and later at Belvedere Hotel corner Dean Street and Promenade. Attended Baines Grammar School in Poulton le Fylde until 1954 when I moved to Canada. Now live in the Caribbean. Canada's winters were too cold.

How pleasant to find another Blackpool Web site. I was born
in Glenroyd in South Shore on August Bank Holiday
Monday in 1935. My mother used to run the Albion
Cafe in Bond Street before the war. My dad worked
for Chester Pollards at the Pleasure Beach repairing
all the slot machines etc. As a two and three year old I used
to busk with my toy trumpet down by the Rendezvous
Cinema. Then I grew up and Like Dougie Smith, I went to
St. Joseph's College on Newton Drive.
Now I am a consultant control systems engineer and I
live in sunny San Diego, California. I will be visiting
Blackpool during the weekend of the 17/18/19 September
for the George Formby Convention at the Winter
Gardens. I am wondering, where is the best fish
and chip shop these days? It used to be on Newton Drive or just beside
the Boer's Head.

As an Ex-Hoteliers (in Blackpool S.S) and now pensioners now living in Kent it is nice to be able to see and read about the place where we once lived. Our Guest House was Merridale Hotel in Balmoral Road SS, where we made many friends among our guests etc.
Keep up the good work ( we have been told that Balmoral Road has changed a lot since the seventies when we were there, so if any one can tell us what it is like now we would be grateful.

It`s great to see a website dealing with my home area , I lived in Loxham Gardens during the 40`s and 50`s .
